Hej Sweden, we’ve made our way via overnight ferry and now we are ready for you – but first rest was to be had.

As we rose from our AirBnB accommodation we were greeted with grey clouds for a lovely Stockholm summer’s day. It didn’t get us down, we were determined to trek out explore the little tourist trap that is the old town of Stockholm. The “oldest” part of Stockholm with the royal palace and the nearby parliament house was a great backdrop to start to explore Stockholm properly.

The rain was a bit of a blessing, as it made the narrow streets quite pleasant to explore and photograph. We (me) got lost zigzagging our way through the town and ended up going around in circles more than once.

The wet caused many to scurry, allowing us to explore in a little bit more peace. Not too much to add here but to just show off a few snaps of the old town.

The colours and the clouds just worked in our favour. The water off the cobbled stones enhanced the scenery that little bit more too.

The hub of the old town was full of sights and sounds. The old churches, the royal palace and even walked up to the parliament house end before looping back on the city for the trek home.

We did return the next day to check out some culture in the form of a pipe organ recital in the cathedral when the weather was slightly more favourable too.

Just a pretty little hub, would love to visit again in winter to see how the lamp lights would bounce off the walls through the narrow streets.

A mention goes to Albert and Jacks, another great recommendation from our Wallpaper guide for a feed. Tasty salads, good serve at a reasonable price. It was what we needed to load up and take on the streets of Gamla Stan.
